Many of us use the facebook app but don't want to use the messenger app which is forced upon us to see messages in facebook. We all know that messenger app uses a lot of ram, battery and even tracks a lot of user data (keeps running in background).
So, I found this awesome loophole to avoid installing messanger app and send messages from facebook app itself.
Here is a quick guide for those who want to use Facebook messages without downloading facebook messenger.
Step 1
Uninstall Facebook messenger (if installed).
Step 2
Make sure you have Unknown sources enabled from settings.
Step 3
Install the attached apk or create a new (empty) android project with the package name com.facebook.orca
As long as the only validation that the facebook app does is checking to find if an app with package name com.facebook.orca is installed on the phone this will work.
The facebook app just checks for this package in your phone, and Voila!! Now, you can use messages from facebook app without installing the messenger application.
